I believe that friends are in our lives so that we can share in each others happiness and success, grief and difficult, contemplation and change. A friendship does not remain stagnant because the exchange of self keeps each person constantly learning new things about the other. True friends grow closer with time while other friendships others fade. It is not to say that friendships that eventually drift apart were never significant. People come in a out of lives leaving unique footprints and hold a purpose; However, friends that commit for the long haul recognize the connection of their souls. These friendships should be cherished because they don't come around every day. This friend would not only be trustworthy, but would trust you in return. They will comfort you in times in grief, and be brutally honest to push you to be the best that you can be. Friends confide in one another. They share do not share their material possessions but instead share things of true value, their friends, family, and self. A true friend wants to be the best friend that they can be, will holding their friends to the same standard. Look around. Evaluate those around you to see if the genuine love of a true friend is there. When you find it, remind yourself that your are blessed to have such a special person in your life.
