Aug. 21st, 2008 09:06 pm Tstad RA Training...
Today was a stressful day. My staff couldn't see eye to eye today in figuring out how we want to structure the community development in the hall. Certain people just sat, half asleep, refusing to contribute while the few that voiced their opinions were arguing about structure and how much to have. I'll admit that I was pretty frustrated when we let out and am not too excited to startit all again tomorrow morning. I'm going to suck it up though! Make the best of it. Try and appreciate the differences we have and twist them in a way to get stuff done!
Aug. 19th, 2008 12:32 am Back to PLU
I am back at school. It's been crazy so far and I feel like I haven't had much time to sit and have "me time." Even right now, it's 12:30am and I have to be up at 6am. Oh well. I am happy to be around my friends again and to be making new ones! I am very happy to have Keith as my wing buddy! He seems like a cool guy and I think our personalities are going to work well together. Kingsley is stressing meout just a bit with some of the things but I'll talk to him here soon if it keeps going on. I don't want to cross a boundary and tell him how not to act however we have a partnership where what he does effects how I look too. I'll be nice. :) My room looks HOT! I love the space. Football players are taking over the floor is a few days. Since I have my own bathroom, they will be actually on my wing! I am nervous to see Tyler tomorrow forsome reason although I don't know why. I miss my family. My ears are hanging in there but my hearing is still echoy. I'm crossing my fingers that that changes soon or there's likely a problem....Anywoo I should go tobed but I wanted to type. I was determined to type something for myself despite the consequences of staying up so late will have....
Aug. 14th, 2008 06:52 pm Sushi!!
Oh my Lord! I just got back from eating sushi for the first time! Sarah, Mal and I went to Cherry Blossom today after work to conquer something on my bucket list! I can now say that I have tried sushi and much much more! Here is what we ordered and I promise I tried everything!
California Roll (Crab and avocado)
Tuna Roll (raw tuna)
Shrimp Tempura Roll (raw shrimp with caviar)
Sake Nigiri (Salmon)
Tako Nigiri (Octopus)
Unagi Nigiri (Eel)
It was definitely an experience! Nothing was too gross to swallow however I can't say that I found a new love! The textures are what got me the most. Eel was actaully the best out of the bunch!! Octopus though was way too chewy and tuna was just crazy! Yay! I tried something new and can officially check it off the list! I am going to missmy Whitfields buddies!!
Aug. 14th, 2008 01:10 pm Life
Junior TP Night 2005. Nate's mom saw the flash of my camera after the mission was complete. Catch by a cop at Eric's house, once again after the mission was complete. Crawled under the window where Victor's mom sat up waiting. Scattering frozen peas on the ground of their driveways to put a whole new meaning to being T-pea-ed! We got the job done! Oh fond memories from high school. How I miss thee.
Aug. 12th, 2008 03:58 pm South Africa
Carrie is back from Mexico!!!! Woot! I sure missed that girl! We had a good talk where she told me all about her trip and how it has effected her. I know it's still a good ways away however I'm nervous about going to South Africa. I'm pumped to experience a new culture and start breaking down the wall of ignorance I feel our culture has built up around me. However the things that I am most excited for are what scare me the most.
I am worried I'll come back and hate the US. I'm worried that I'll be bitter at people who are unappreciatative of the life and privledges we have. Ignorance is bliss won't apply to me anymore. I'll finally see with my own two eyes what else is out there. Carrie told me that I'll just have to remember that I am getting an opportunity that many people here in the US don't get, so to a certain extent I can't blame them for being unappreciative because they know nothing else. Blame our government and education system perhaps, but not the individual. She also said that I need to use my trip in a positive way. Push for change. I can't come back and be pissed. I have to redirect my anger to accomplish something positive.
I wanted to put all of it down now so I can go back and read this because I'm sure with the emotions of culture shock I'll forget. I'm going to come back with different ideas and be a different person. I will grow and opinions will change. It's not a bad thing. I'm excited for my trip!
Aug. 11th, 2008 11:45 am Evie, Hiking, Carrie Weekend!
What a weekend! First is started out on Friday night! Sara and I wnt out to dinner at Red Robin and then we came back to her house where we laid around looking through bridal magazines!!! Yep, Bridal magazines! It still shocks me that I'm 20 years old and helping my best firned plan her wedding. It was fun looking at stuff and I know she really wants to know my opinion of stuff. Her sis is her maid of honor but when it comes to helping pick out things, I'm definitely the go to girl for her. My brides maid dress isn't going to be too bad so that's a perk! Overall, Sara and I had a great time together and I can't wait to be there on her special day!
Saturday rolled along and I got to go to Evie's annual family party! I was super excited to ride in a hot air balloon but because it was too windy, they balloon guys packed it up and bailed! Oh well. I guess it just wasn't ment to be....it was great seeing people though! I miss hanging with Evie and Corynn the most! Evie's boyfriend, Fred, was super nice and I can tell they are a good match for one another! Maybe I'll be heading to their wedding in no time! At evies, we ate, had a basketball shoot out, water balloon toss, and a exciting ride around on the gator! As we posed for a picture, Evie kindly popped a water balloon over my head.....we got her back though! Corynn, Lindsey Hoyle and I remisnced about high school and I found out what some people are up to that I haven't heard about it forever! Andrea Stevens just marries Garrick Allen which I find out be just weird. I wish them the best though! I love the time I got to share with Evie and our friends this past weekend but it makes me realize just how much we are all growing up and going in our own directions! I hope we will all keep and touch and although it wouldn't be frequently, when we do get together I hope it was like this weekend and feels like no time has past!
Sunday rolled around and Britt and I went on our hike on Mt. Pilchuck! The trial was 6 miles round trip and we climbed over 2000ft in elevation to the summit!! It was super cloudy and even rained a little which stunk but overall it was a blast climbing a mountian and conquering a goal with my bestest buddy! You could tell that the hike would be beautiful if you could have seen farther so we plan on hiking the trail again next summer! I am just proud of myself to have pushed myself up that mountain and for climbing the huge boulders at the end of the trail! It was a lovely hike and Britt and I got to have some good girly time!
Carrie came home this weekend!!!!! Boy did I miss that kid! I'm sad because I only get a week with her before I move back to school but I guess that's better than nothing! Sounds like she had a great time in Mexico. I was great to talk to her about her trip because she can relate to the traveling I'm nervous to do in the future. I think what worries me the most about going to South Africa is that I'm going to come back and hate the US. Carrie told me that while there were a lot of things that opened her eyes, they things she saw made her appreciate the US that much more. I hope my trip goes as great as hers did and that I develop some great friendships! I can't believe she had a little romance while she was there! This Micah kid was a lucky one! I hope she doesn't take the time apart too hard. I love that girl!
